*** Police are investigating the death of a man found in the basement of an East Harlem apartment yesterday, authorities said.

The 48-year-old man, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the East 117th Street apartment shortly before 11 a.m.

Cops found signs of trauma on the man’s body, sources said.

The exact cause of death will be determined through an autopsy.

BROOKLYN

*** A woman was struck and critically injured by a car in Midwood, police said yesterday.

The unidentified victim, believed to be in her 60s, was crossing Ocean Avenue when a 2000 Lincoln Town Car slammed into her at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, cops said.

The 46-year-old driver was making a left turn from Avenue R onto Ocean Parkway when he struck the woman, authorities said.

She was rushed to Coney Island Hospital in critical condition.

Police said there was no criminality involved.

THE BRONX

*** A teen was shot on a University Heights street, police sources said yesterday.

The 18-year-old victim, whose name was not released, was walking on Jerome Avenue with his girlfriend and two pals when a mystery man accosted them near West 184th Street at 11 p.m. Thursday, sources said.

The assailant fired two to three rounds at them, striking the victim in the thigh.

The injured man was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital. The triggerman is at large.

QUEENS

*** A Corona teen was arrested as a third youth in a melee at a subway station in Flushing, authorities said yesterday. The 15-year-old suspect, whose name was withheld because of his age, was arrested Thursday for his part in a fight outside the Main Street terminal near Roosevelt Avenue at 8:55 a.m. on Nov. 2, law-enforcement sources said.

Authorities said two teens were stabbed and two of their assailants – including a 14-year-old boy – were nabbed at the scene. A folding knife and bits of a broken bottle that had been used as a weapon were recovered. The two victims were treated at New York Hospital of Queens. The teen is charged with gang assault, weapons possession and five counts of assault, according to a spokeswoman for DA Richard Brown.

STATEN ISLAND

*** A St. John’s University student was arrested for forging his aunt’s name on a $40,000 education loan, law-enforcement sources said yesterday. Angelo Carlucci, 26, of Woodrow, allegedly got a loan with Education Finance Partners, listed his aunt as a co-signer, and provided them with her name, address and Social Security number, authorities said. His aunt told police she never agreed to help him get a loan.

Carlucci is charged with identity theft, forgery, criminal possession of a forged instrument and grand larceny, a spokesman for DA Daniel Donovan said.

*** A Florida woman was busted for using someone else’s traveler’s check to buy linens at a department store at the Staten Island Mall, authorities said yesterday.

Linda Stevenson, 43, of Northport, Fla., allegedly bought $52 worth of towels and sheets from Macy’s on Richmond Avenue at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday and paid with a $500 American Express travelers check that belonged to another woman, law-enforcement sources said.

Stevenson also tried to make off with the remaining $448 balance in cash, authorities said.

She is charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, Donovan’s spokesman said.

*** A man was nabbed for drunken driving early yesterday after a cop stopped him for a traffic violation in Fort Wadsworth, authorities said. Mark Quilter, 34, was pulled over as he drove through the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge toll plaza, law-enforcement sources said.

The cop who pulled over the vehicle immediately smelled booze on Quilter’s breath and saw his bloodshot, watery eyes. Quilter failed a Breathalyzer test with a .103 blood-alcohol content.

He is charged with two counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and one count of operating a vehicle while impaired, Donovan’s spokesman said.
