NYPD DAILY BLOTTER
MANHATTAN
* Cops yesterday released a sketch of a man (above) they say tried to sodomize two girls in Harlem. The incident occurred Feb. 27 around 4:30 p.m. when the man accosted the girls, ages 9 and 10, riding in an elevator at a housing project on West 126th Street. He grabbed the girls, exposed himself and demanded oral sex. The girls resisted his advances and managed to flee. But they did not report the incident until four other victims came forward in three different cases.
Another case also occurred Feb. 27 on the same street, but at a different apartment building. The assailant approached two girls, ages 15 and 18, at the entrance of the building at 5 p.m. and began to masturbate. The teenagers fled.
Then, on March 17, he wrapped his arm around the neck of a 19-year-old woman as she was entering an apartment building on West 133rd Street. He then exposed himself and grabbed the victim between her legs. She managed to run off.
Finally, on April 1, a 10-year-old girl was walking home from school on Convent Avenue around 3:30 p.m. when she noticed the suspect trailing her. The man followed her into her apartment building. He exposed himself and fondled her breasts before fleeing.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic in his mid-20s, 6-foot-1, 150 to 160 pounds, with a slight mustache. He was last seen wearing blue cap and light blue bubble jacket. Anyone with information can call CrimeStoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
* A man was busted yesterday after he tried to rob an East Side bank, police said. Brian Smart, 32, of Newark, N.J., walked into a Citibank on Lexington Avenue near East 49th Street around 10 a.m. and slipped a note to a teller demanding money, cops said. But when the teller delayed, Smart fled. After the teller provided a description of the suspect, police canvassed the area and arrested Smart on attempted robbery charges.
QUEENS
* A DWI suspect escaped police custody from the 112th Precinct, but was recaptured about 12 hours later, cops said. Faminle Sing, 31, of Winter Garden, Fla., was hauled in to the Forest Hills precinct around 1:25 a.m. yesterday after getting busted for drinking and driving, police said. She was standing outside a holding cell either taking a Breathalyzer test or awaiting one when an officer turned around to get some paperwork, said police. Sing, who had been visiting family in New York, slipped out of her handcuffs and dashed out a back door, cops said. Detectives finally captured her at 161 Hendrix St. in Brooklyn at 1:45 p.m.
THE BRONX
* A man was arrested on charges of assaulting his ex-girlfriend in his Longwood apartment. On Wednesday, Victor Cruz, 23, punched former girlfriend Jessica Jimenez, 21, who took out a restraining order against him last year, authorities said. Jimenez, who lives in Brooklyn, went to Cruz’s East 169th Street apartment to visit their 10-year-old daughter, she told police. A dispute between the two escalated into a physical altercation, but no one was seriously injured. On Thursday, Jimenez reported the incident to 41st Precinct cops and Cruz was later busted on assault and criminal contempt charges.
