An Alphabet City resident was arrested for threatening a man at knifepoint inside an elevator of a Midtown building, police sources said yesterday.
Yaru Nyerere, 52, of Avenue C, pulled the knife on the 42-year-old victim in the commercial building at West 37th Street and Eighth Avenue at 8 p.m. Saturday, sources said.
Police responded and Nyerere was charged with menacing, cops said.
He was also charged with drug possession after he was found with an unspecified narcotic.
A man chatting with a woman was viciously slashed by an assailant who shouted “that’s my baby’s mama,” authorities said yesterday.
Brandishing a cutting instrument, Danny Sarita, 25, accosted the victim at West 207th Street and Post Avenue in Inwood at 4:44 a.m. Saturday, sources said.
Sarita allegedly slashed the victim in the right cheek and fled. Police arrested him that night on assault charges.
The victim was treated at Harlem Hospital.
A homeless man was not using his brain when he head-butted a car window, shattered the glass and stole cleaning products from inside, authorities said yesterday.
A witness saw Martin Kaplan, 39, smash the back passenger-side window of the vehicle at 1 Washington Square Village in Greenwich Village at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, sources said.
Cops quickly nabbed the suspect, who was charged with petit larceny and criminal mischief.
A thief was chased down and grabbed by a man whose iPhone the suspect stole as they boarded a bus in Midtown, authorities said yesterday.
Nicholas Fairclough, 20, snatched the phone from the 20-year-old victim at West 34th Street near Seventh Avenue at 8 p.m. last Thursday, sources said.
Fairclough ran and the victim gave chase, cops said, catching and holding the suspect until police arrived.
A DA’s spokeswoman said Fairclough was charged with grand larceny and possession of stolen property.
BROOKLYN
A Prospect Heights woman was arrested for kicking her husband in the groin and beating him with the heel of her shoe, authorities said yesterday.
Christin Angello, 30, argued with her husband in their Prospect Place apartment near Franklin Avenue after he stayed out late at a club, sources said.
Angello allegedly kicked and choked him and repeatedly struck him with her shoe.
She then demanded that he take her to the club to prove he had been there, sources said.
But the victim called 911 and, the next day, Angello was arrested on charges of assault and menacing.
Police tracked down a Crown Heights woman who burned an acquaintance with acid during an argument over her boyfriend, authorities said yesterday.
Suspect Cherise French, 29, clashed with the woman in French’s Park Place apartment at Rochester Avenue at 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 6, sources said.
French allegedly punched the woman in the head before the boyfriend separated the pugilistic pair.
The victim went downstairs and, five minutes later, French came by and tossed the acid on her, causing breast, stomach and shoulder burns.
French fled but was busted Monday on charges of assault, menacing and harassment.
The victim was treated at Kings County Hospital.
A suspect was busted after fatally stabbing a man on a Kensington street, police said yesterday.
The 29-year-old suspect, whose name was not immediately released, knifed the 26-year-old man in the chest at Westminster Road and Slocum Place at 10 p.m. Monday.
The victim, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was rushed to Methodist Hospital, where he died.
Police busted the assailant, who suffered minor injuries in the fight. Charges were pending.
STATEN ISLAND
Three thieves were arrested after robbing a young man at knifepoint on a Port Richmond street, authorities said yesterday.
Terence Ascensio, 17, Andre Glover, 18, and Benjamin Soto, 35, confronted the 19-year-old victim at Forest and Veltman avenues at 6:42 p.m. Saturday.
Glover allegedly brandished a knife and Soto allegedly rifled the man’s pockets, taking his cellphone, money and credit cards, and fled with his accomplices.
The victim called police, who quickly apprehended the trio.
A spokesman for DA Daniel Donovan said the suspects were charged with robbery and weapons possession.
A drunken driver was arrested in West Brighton after crashing into several parked vehicles, authorities said yesterday.
Miguel Palma, 27, was speeding in a 1996 Dodge minivan at Broadway and Castleton Avenue at 4:15 a.m. Monday when he crashed into three parked cars, sending pedestrians running, sources said.
Cops noticed Palma allegedly reeked of alcohol and smelled of booze.
Palma subsequently failed a Breathalyzer test, registering a .141 percent blood-alcohol content.
Sources said Palma could not remember if he had consumed three, four or five beers.
Police arrested a drunken motorist in New Brighton, authorities said yesterday.
Victor Hernandez, 21, was behind the wheel of a 1997 Hyundai at Brighton and York avenues at 4:15 a.m. Monday when cops stopped the vehicle, sources said.
The officers allegedly smelled alcohol on Hernandez’s breath and noticed other signs of inebriation.
After flunking a Breathalyzer test, he was charged with DWI.
