An argument over a football bet landed a Fort Greene man behind bars and his girlfriend in the hospital, authorities said yesterday.

Lucius McDaniel, 57, was arguing with his gal pal, 53, in their Willoughby Avenue apartment near Kent Avenue at 12:10 a.m. Monday, sources said.

Suddenly, McDaniel grabbed a baseball bat and bashed her in the head, causing gashes that required four sutures at Brookdale Hospital.

McDaniel was charged with assault and weapon possession.

The driver of an unlicensed taxi was arrested for assaulting a livery driver in Fort Greene two days after they had argued over a fare, authorities said yesterday.

Robert Dick, 36, slugged the livery driver in the face through an open window of the victim’s car on Atlantic Avenue near Fifth Avenue at 6:20 p.m. on Jan. 12, sources said.

Dick then grabbed a mop handle from the trunk of his car and struck the victim in the eye, cops said.

The injured man got out of his vehicle as Dick got into his and allegedly rammed the victim.

A passing security guard jumped in front of Dick’s car to prevent him from running over the victim, who suffered leg bruises and an eye cut.

Dick then ran, leaving his car behind.

Detectives traced the license-plate number to an acquaintance and Dick surrendered Monday.

He was charged with assault and reckless endangerment.

THE BRONX

A man left brain-dead by a gunshot wound over the weekend has died, police said yesterday.

Glen Terrell, 27, was talking with friends outside the Crystal Lounge on Prospect Avenue at East 165th Street in Morrisania at 4:20 a.m. Sunday when a gunman shot him in the back of the head and fled, cops said.

Terrell was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he was kept alive on a respirator until Monday.

A man was found dead in his Mott Haven apartment, police said yesterday.

Jorge Laureano, 56, was unresponsive when a relative found him on the floor of his East 143rd Street apartment near Third Avenue at 11 a.m. Monday, cops said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

MANHATTAN

A shoplifter was busted for stealing 12 boxes of chocolates from a Duane Reade in Midtown, authorities said yesterday.

A manager watched Stanley Johnson, 44, on video surveillance shoving the boxes into a shopping bag in the store on Second Avenue near 46th Street at 4:10 p.m. Friday, sources said.

Johnson left without paying, but was stopped outside by police, cops said.

Sources said Johnson had planned to peddle the chocolates on the street.

A DA’s spokeswoman said Johnson was charged with burglary and petit larceny.

A Greenwich Village man was arrested for raping his girlfriend in their apartment, authorities said yesterday.

The attacker forced himself on the woman in their Bank Street home after she rebuffed his advances at 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

He also repeatedly punched and slapped the woman, causing various bruises, authorities said.

The victim, in her 40s, reported the incident and her boyfriend was charged with rape and assault.

Two teenagers were arrested in SoHo for mugging a man at gunpoint, authorities said yesterday.

Dashawn Whittingham, 17, a 14-year-old girl and another cohort allegedly confronted the man near Greene and Prince streets at 12:10 a.m. Saturday.

After one of the thieves pulled a BB gun, the trio allegedly shoved the victim to the ground and swiped his cash, wallet and cellphone.

The victim flagged down a cop.

Whittingham and the 14-year-old were captured nearby and charged with robbery.

The accomplice was still at large.

A man was arrested for swiping laptop computers from two Upper West Side apartments after police traced them to a pawnshop where the suspect had sold them, authorities said yesterday.

Ryshem Smith, 33, allegedly broke into the first apartment on West 77th Street near Columbus Avenue at 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 7.

He stole a $1,200 computer and fled, sources said.

An hour later, he allegedly broke into another apartment at the building, swiped a $2,700 computer and fled.

Police became suspicious of Smith because he worked for a company that rented the apartments, sources said.

Cops tracked him down Thursday after they found pawnshop tickets in his name.

Smith was charged with burglary.

STATEN ISLAND

An alleged burglar was caught in the act by a man who came home to find the suspect in his Elm Park home, authorities said yesterday.

Martin Marquez, 40, allegedly broke into the Morningstar Road residence near David Place at 2:20 a.m. Saturday.

When the 49-year-old man returned to his house, he found Marquez and called police.

Cops searched Marquez’s fanny pack and recovered burglar’s tools, including a screwdriver, pliers and a hammer, as well as some cash and a crack pipe from his jacket pockets, authorities said.

A spokesman for DA Daniel Donovan said Marquez was charged with burglary, petit larceny and possession of a controlled substance.

Police acting on a tip arrested a man running an illegal social club in Stapleton, authorities said yesterday.

Milverton Watson, 54, was partying with about 30 patrons in the club on Sands Street near Bay Street at 1:40 a.m. Sunday, sources said.

Moments later police raided the establishment, which did not have a permit.

Cops discovered a full stocked bar, but Watson had no liquor license, authorities said.

Watson was charged with violations of the alcoholic-beverage control law, a Donovan spokesman said.
