Police yesterday were searching for this Bedford Park man missing since the weekend.
Curtis Deramus, 27, was last seen at his Decatur Avenue home near East Gunhill Road at around 5 a.m. Saturday.
Deramus, 5-foot-7 and 245 pounds, was last seen wearing a light blue T-shirt, beige slacks and black and white sneakers.
A man was found dead yesterday in the bedroom of his Mott Haven apartment, police said.
Juan Chabau, 51, was found at 6:20 p.m. with head bruises in the Elton Avenue apartment he shared with his wife, cops said.
Police believe Chabau was fatally injured in a fall.
Brooklyn
Two Brownsville teens were arrested after one accidentally shot himself in the groin, authorities said yesterday.
Kyle Stroman, 16, and Muta Lumont, 17, were walking through a courtyard of the Glenmore Houses at 108 Christopher Ave. at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday when they heard a gunshot, cops said.
As Stroman allegedly pulled a gun from his waistband, a bullet discharged and hit him in the groin. Stroman, who was charged with reckless endangerment and weapon possession, was treated at Brookdale Hospital.
Lumont was charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental administration.
A Brownsville shoplifter who swiped 16 boxes of Advil was busted after he tackled a security guard, authorities said yesterday.
Abner August, 38, stuffed the medication into a bag in the store at Clarkson Avenue and Rockaway Parkway at 3 p.m. Tuesday, cops said.
A store employee saw the theft and yelled at August, who charged at and tackled a security guard standing at the front door, police said.
August struggled with two guards, who finally restrained him, sources said.
He was charged with petit larceny and attempted assault.
A young man was shot dead early yesterday in Bedford-Stuyvesant, police said.
Ajyei Muhammad, 20, was shot several times on Monroe Street near Franklin Avenue at about 12:45 a.m. after a gunman approached and opened fire, cops said. He died at the scene.
Staten Island
A DNA match led to the arrest of an ex-con who held up an attendant at gunpoint at a Port Richmond gas station, authorities said yesterday.
Damon Mitchell, 44, confronted the attendant at the Empire Lube station on Port Richmond Avenue near Willowbrook Road at 5:45 p.m. last Nov. 8, cops said.
Mitchell allegedly pulled a gun, demanded money and struggled with the attendant.
Mitchell fled empty-handed, leaving behind his baseball cap, cops said. Police got a DNA match from the headwear, and nabbed Mitchell Tuesday.
Cops nabbed a woman after she cashed more than $3,100 in forged checks, cops said yesterday.
Between Aug. 29 and Sept. 4, Sheresse Sandy, 23, obtained the counterfeit Best Buy checks, signed her real name on them and cashed them at check-cashing businesses throughout the borough, sources said. When the checks bounced, the businesses reported the fraud to police.
Cops tracked down Sandy Tuesday. She was charged with possession of a forged instrument and petit larceny.

This man is wanted for eight bank robberies in Midtown and the Gramercy Park area since March.
The suspect, in his 30s, stands 6-feet tall and weighs 220 pounds.
Cops said he simply walks up to tellers and demands money.
A thief was captured as he attempted to swipe 31 pairs of socks and 10 pairs of underwear at Bloomingdale’s, cops said.
A security guard spotted Randolph Bliger, 56, stuffing the merchandise into a bag in the store at Third Avenue and East 59th Street at around 3:20 p.m. Monday, sources said.
As Bliger tried to leave without paying, the guard grabbed him, cops said. He was charged with burglary, petit larceny and possession of stolen property, a DA’s spokeswoman said.
A burglar was arrested after he attempted to flee with a woman’s pocketbook in a Midtown office, authorities said yesterday.
Michael Estrada, 38, allegedly broke into the unoccupied office at West 40th Street near Seventh Avenue at around 5:20 p.m. on June 12.
As Estrada grabbed the purse, the victim walked into her office and spotted the suspect, cops said.
Estrada bolted but was captured Monday and charged with burglary, the DA’s Office said.
A purse-snatcher at John Jay College was nabbed after security reviewed surveillance footage that caught him in the act, cops said yesterday.
Joseph Fulton, 47, snatched an unattended purse containing $600 and a credit card from the front desk of a school building at 899 10th Ave. at around 10 a.m. on Sept. 11, cops said.
The school employee who had left the purse discovered the theft.
Security officials reviewed the video and identified Fulton, who was busted Monday on charges of grand larceny and possession of stolen property.
