MANHATTAN
* A thief swiped $3,650 worth of electronic equipment after breaking into a car in SoHo, police sources said yesterday.
Andre Bethea, 43, allegedly smashed the rear passenger window of the car parked on Wooster Street near Charlton Street at about 2:15 a.m. Friday. Inside the auto, he grabbed an iPod and a laptop, then ran off, the sources said.
Hours later, the car’s owner discovered the break-in and gave police a description of the stolen items. Police found Bethea in possession of the items.
As he was being cuffed, Bethea allegedly punched one of the officers and flailed his arms. He was charged with assault, grand larceny, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
* A burglar on a drinking binge was caught red-handed stealing a flat-screen TV from a Midtown hotel, police sources said yesterday.
Elsworth Hewitt, 31, allegedly ripped the $900 TV off a wall in the Edison Hotel on West 47th Street near Seventh Avenue at 10 a.m. Saturday, sources said. An employee heard a crashing noise near the restroom area and went to check it out. He found Hewitt with the TV and a garbage bag, cops said.
Hewitt tried to run away, but the employee grabbed him and fell to the ground and injured his left hand while restraining him, police said.
Surveillance video showed Hewitt causing an alleged $250 in damage to the wall while tearing down the TV.
He was charged with burglary and criminal mischief. He allegedly told cops, “I have been on a drinking binge. I do dope.”
* Two men were shot in East Harlem yesterday, police said.
The unidentified suspect confronted the victims and a third man on East 120th Street near Third Avenue at about 8 a.m. after getting into a dispute with the brother-in-law of one of them. He pulled a gun and shot at the trio, hitting one in the buttocks and another in the left foot. Both victims were listed in stable condition at area hospitals. The shooter fled.
BROOKLYN
* Two thugs brandishing golf clubs threatened a Flatbush supermarket owner, authorities said yesterday.
Roberto Romero, 25, and Javier Rosado, 21, tried to barge into the Superior Supermarket on Cortelyou Road at East Fifth Street at 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 16, cops said. But the owner refused to let the strangers in because they appeared intoxicated, cops said.
The suspects picked up golf clubs and waved them menacingly while shouting at the owner to open the door, police said. The pair was arrested on charges of menacing, harassment and weapon possession.
STATEN ISLAND
* Lameen Carter, 29, who police say has a record, was shot and killed yesterday in Fox Hills.
The victim was shot twice in the head and once in the torso by a mystery gunman at about 10 a.m. on Park Hill Avenue near Roff Street.
The wounded man was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital, where he died. The shooter fled.
QUEENS
* An intoxicated driver was arrested at the Queens Midtown Tunnel, authorities said yesterday.
Paul Vadassery, 29, failed to stop at a stop sign at the entrance ramp of the tunnel near Borden Avenue at about 1 p.m. on Oct. 13, cops said. Police pulled him over and noticed he reeked of booze, slurred his words and had bloodshot eyes. He was charged with DWI.
