Manhattan
A 31-year-old man was shot in the shoulder by a thug who approached him on the street near the Harlem Meer in Central Park, police said yesterday.
The shooting occurred at Fifth Avenue near East 110th Street before fleeing at around 11 p.m. Thursday.
The victim was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Authorities yesterday identified a 4-month-old girl who died allegedly at the hand of her mother in their Harlem apartment.
Little Anaya Austin stopped breathing and suffered extensive bruising after her mother, Raven, 26, put a hand over her face in the West 126th Street apartment at around 7 a.m. Tuesday, police sources said.
The infant was taken to Harlem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Austin was arrested Thursday and charged with murder.
A 28-year-old woman was fondled by a man who accosted her in a Midtown building, cops said yesterday.
The fiend followed her into an elevator of the West 36th Street building at around 6 p.m. Thursday and sexually abused her before fleeing. The victim was not injured.
A 53-year-old woman was awakened by a would-be burglar who escaped empty-handed from her Upper East Side apartment early yesterday, police said.
The suspect, a man in his 20s, fled after the woman confronted him in her East 95th Street residence. She was not injured. (m, s)

Two teenagers spewed anti-Semitic remarks at a 48-year-old man on a Bay Ridge street before fleeing, police said yesterday.
The incident took place at 86th Street and Fifth Avenue at around 10 p.m. Thursday. The man told police the two boys also threatened him the previous day.
Bronx
A 33-year-old man was shot in the arm and torso on a Williamsbridge street, police said yesterday.
An unidentified assailant accosted the man on Tilden Street near Barnes Avenue at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, pulled a gun and opened fire. The shooter fled.
The victim was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
An 18-year-old man was stabbed several times during an argument with another teen on a University Heights street, police said yesterday.
The assailant, also 18, stabbed his acquaintance at University Avenue near West 183rd Street at around 6 p.m. Thursday. The suspect fled.
The victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
A city cop has been suspended for failing to safeguard a prisoner who escaped police custody at Bronx Central Booking.
On Wednesday, Alfonso Saunders was arrested for petit larceny and turned over to Officer Michael Guarino of the 47th Precinct for processing at Central Booking on East 161st Street, authorities said.
After Guarino fingerprinted Saunders, the suspect escaped. Saunders was later arrested near his Carpenter Avenue apartment in Wakefield.
He was charged with escape, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.
Guarino was suspended Thursday night.
Queens
An emotionally disturbed man was arrested yesterday after he fired shots in the Bellerose section, police said.
Cops were called to 252nd Street near 86th Avenue at around 11:30 a.m., where they saw Mario Balducci fleeing with a .38-caliber gun into his neighbor’s yard, police said.
Cops negotiated with Balducci for over six hours before they finally coaxed him into surrendering.
Balducci was charged with weapons possession, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. He also was taken to a local hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
A man in his 20s walked into a Bellerose bank yesterday, slipped a note demanding money to a teller and fled with an undetermined amount of cash. The robbery occurred about 2 p.m. in the New York Community Bank at 244-19 Braddock Ave.
