A man wanted for murdering his girlfriend in Detroit apparently shot himself to death in an Upper West Side apartment yesterday, police sources said.
The 46-year-old Detroit resident, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was found with a gunshot wound to his head in his friend’s apartment on West 91st Street near Central Park West at 2:40 a.m.
On Feb. 6, the man allegedly blew away his 27-year-old girlfriend in his home and then text-messaged a friend confessing to the crime.
He then traveled to New York, where he stayed at the friend’s apartment before taking his own life.

A homeless man was struck and killed by a car as he crossed the Henry Hudson Parkway, police said yesterday.
Bennie Hicks, 53, was hit by a 2001 Chevy sedan traveling south near West 125th Street just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
The driver remained at the scene and was not charged.

A Greenwich Village man has been arrested for roughing up his ex-girlfriend, police sources said yesterday.
Jonathan Gascoine, 36, allegedly shoved the 33-year-old woman onto a couch in his apartment on Fifth Avenue near East 14th Street and then kicked her in the leg at 3 a.m. last Tuesday.
The victim notified police and Gascoine was nabbed Friday on assault and menacing charges.

A Murray Hill man attacked his brother with a metal step stool after they got into an argument, police sources said yesterday.
Stephen Russo, 50, squabbled with his 55-year-old brother in their apartment on East 37th Street near Park Avenue at around 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 4, cops said.
Russo allegedly struck his brother with the stool and tossed a tea kettle, breaking it.
The victim suffered minor abrasions.
Police arrested Russo on assault and criminal-mischief charges.
Queens
An identity thief was nabbed after he swiped $5,000 from a Staten Island man’s account at a St. Albans bank, authorities said.
Hector Pagan, 58, of Brooklyn, allegedly withdrew the funds from the WaMu branch on Linden Boulevard at Farmers Boulevard just before 4 p.m. last Wednesday by presenting the victim’s debit card.
About two hours later, he allegedly tried to withdraw another $5,000 from a WaMu branch in Hollis. But staffers there caught on to his ploy when he allegedly presented a phony Florida ID.
Pagan, who was arrested at the scene, was charged with grand larceny, forgery and identity theft, according to a spokesman for District Attorney Richard Brown.
Staten Island
Two muggers landed in the clink after stealing a young woman’s purse in Dongan Hills and a good Samaritan held them for cops, officials said.
Francisco Cruz, 23, allegedly accosted the 25-year-old victim on Hancock Street at Alter Avenue just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
His accomplice, José Romero, 24, acted as the lookout as Cruz knocked the woman to the ground and swiped her bag, authorities said.
A witness was able to restrain the men long enough for cops to arrive.
Both were charged with robbery, a spokesman for DA Daniel Donovan said.

A drunken motorcyclist, speeding on the wrong side of a Midland Beach road, ended up on the wrong side of the law, authorities said.
Lukasz Dynak, 20, a construction worker, was driving along Father Capadanno Boulevard near Greeley Avenue without a helmet late Sunday night when he was spotted by an undercover cop, sources said.
When other cops began following him, Dynak allegedly stepped on the gas, swerving in and out of traffic and blowing a red light at more than 100 mph.
Sources said Dynak’s blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit when he was busted in the driveway of his Ocean Avenue home.
He was charged with DWI, reckless driving and unlawful fleeing of a police officer, according to the DA’s spokesman.

Another sloshed motorist was picked up in Huguenot with a blood-alcohol level more than four times the legal limit, authorities said.
Domenick Scarcella, 52, was driving a 1996 Jeep with his headlights off near Huguenot Avenue late Sunday night, police said.
Cops stopped him after he made an unusually wide right turn, and reported finding an empty bottle of Georgi vodka in the car.
A blood test later revealed that Scarcella’s alcohol level was .36 percent, according to court papers.
He was charged with aggravated DWI.
