A youth was shot dead as he left a house party in Canarsie yesterday, police said.

Frank Jones, 18, and another victim, 21, were walking with friends on Rockaway Parkway near Flatlands Avenue at around 4 a.m., when a gunman opened fire and ran away, police said.

Jones was hit in the back and died later at Brookdale Hospital.

The 21-year-old was rushed to the same hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

A teen has been arrested for having sex with an underage girl in the East Flatbush Public Library, authorities said yesterday.

Between April 1 and April 30, Devon Wilks, 18, had sex with the 13-year-old girl several times in the basement of the library on Church Avenue at East 96th Street, cops said.

A custodian spotted the two hooking up on May 1, cops said.

She notified her supervisor, leading to the arrest of Wilks last Thursday on rape charges.

Two thugs were arrested for trying to rob a pedestrian in East Flatbush, cops said yesterday.

Gutenber Longchamp, 20, and Darrell Williams, 17, came up behind a 26-year-old man carrying a book bag at Nostrand and Foster avenues at 2 p.m. Thursday, cops said.

The pair grabbed at his cellphone, causing him to drop his bag, cops said. The victim dashed inside a deli, where he called police.

Cops arrested the suspects, who were charged with robbery.

A robber who was shot and killed by an off-duty cop at an auto-repair shop on Saturday was identified yesterday as Kenneth Williams, 21, of Brownsville.

After Williams pulled a gun in the East Flatbush shop, the Brooklyn narcotics officer, who was having his car inspected, identified himself as an officer, cops said.

Williams shot at the cop, who returned fire, killing the suspect. An accomplice who grabbed Williams’ gun and continued firing got away.

A caretaker apparently scared off a burglar who tried to break into a donation box at an East Village mosque, police sources said yesterday.

The caretaker was on the lower level of the Islamic Council of America at East 11th Street near First Avenue at around 3:15 a.m. last Tuesday when he heard noises on the main floor and went to investigate.

He noticed that someone had tampered with the donation box.

Suddenly, he saw a man, whom he recognized as a congregant, running out a side door.

Police believe the burglar had stayed inside the mosque when it closed the previous night.

A thief offered to sell his house to pay back $5,600 he allegedly stole from a married couple for whom he worked, authorities said yesterday.

Between Jan. 5 and Feb. 3, Albert Irizarry, 49, used the couple’s ATM card on several occasions to withdraw the cash from the victims’ account at the Chase branch on First Avenue near East 55th Street, sources said.

The couple permitted Irizarry to use the card to fill up their car with gas.

Police reviewed surveillance images from the bank showing Irizarry allegedly making the transactions.

Irizarry, who was arrested on May 1 and charged with grand larceny, allegedly told cops, “I could put my house up for the money,” in a failed bid to get out of trouble.

A drunken driver was arrested in Astoria after slamming into a police car and injuring two cops, authorities said yesterday.

Juan Melendez, 34, was speeding through the intersection of Astoria Boulevard and 14th Street at around 6:45 a.m. on May 2 when his 2000 Chrysler crashed into the passenger side of the police car, sources said.

The officers, who suffered minor contusions, noticed that Melendez reeked of booze and was slurring his words as he admitted to having just “one beer,” the sources said.

Melendez was charged with assault, reckless driving and DWI, said a spokeswoman for DA Richard Brown.

A Far Rockaway man was busted for swiping $180 from the pocket of clothing in a communal laundry room, authorities said yesterday.

Glendon Mohan, 23, allegedly grabbed the money from a woman’s wet garment in a dryer on Beach 32nd Street near Seagirt Boulevard at 1:50 p.m. on May 3.

The woman noticed her money missing and reviewed surveillance footage that showed Mohan making the cash grab, sources said.

Police were called and arrested Mohan, who was charged with criminal possession of stolen property.

A mugger has been arrested after roughing up a teenage girl and snatching her bracelet at a bus stop in Hollis last month, authorities said yesterday.

Frank Drepaul, 23, allegedly pushed the 16-year-old girl into a pole at 186th Street and Jamaica Avenue at around 2:10 p.m. on April 29.

Drepaul then allegedly swiped the bracelet from her wrist and fled.

He was tracked down on May 3 and charged with robbery.
