A 34-year-old man was charged with attempted murder after he shot two men during a botched robbery in Astoria, authorities said yesterday.

The incident unfolded at around 3:30 p.m. on May 23. Jeffrey Cofield, 34, and three male cohorts accosted Henny Ibrahim and demanded money on 30th Drive near 12th Street, cops said.

When Ibrahim refused to fork over cash, he was hit from behind with a sharp object.

Then Cofield shot Ibrahim once in the shoulder and his cohort, Mohamed Abdellateif, twice in the stomach, authorities said.

Both men were taken Elmhurst General Hospital. Doctors removed a kidney from Abdellateif, who was later released; Ibrahim was treated and released.

Cofield was arrested on Wednesday and charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery, assault, reckless endangerment and gun possession, according to a spokesman for Queens DA Richard Brown.

Covington told cops that she had last seen her son at their Jamaica home on 201st Street on June 15, when baby sitter Casey Klotz, 18, left with the child and did not come back.

Sources said it was not unusual for Klotz to disappear with the boy for a few days before returning him to his mom.

On Wednesday, Klotz was spotted with the boy at the South Queens Multi-Service Center on Guy R. Brewer Boulevard.

Police said Klotz frequently visited the center to talk with friends and let the boy play with other children.

They noticed that Almeida was wearing a heavy jacket in the humid weather and that something was bulging out of his side.

The officers pulled over, stepped out of the car and asked for Almeida’s identification, authorities said.

Sources said Almeida started walking backward and reached for a .38-caliber gun hidden in the small of his back. The cops quickly jumped on him and wrestled him to the ground.

As they were arresting him, Imbaran allegedly yelled at the cops and tugged at their shirts. She was also arrested and charged with obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Almeida was charged with gun possession, menacing and resisting arrest.
