A man asleep on a park bench at 77th Street and Central Park West on the Upper West Side was in critical condition yesterday after he was hit by a minivan in a chain reaction caused by another car that veered out of control.

Police said a man driving a Saturn with four passengers was going northbound on Central Park West when it hit a parked white minivan.

The impact caused the van to spin around and crash into the bench where the sleeping man lay.

The driver and passengers were taken to Cornell Medical Center. All five suffered minor injuries.

Police at the scene said the driver, Jamal White, has a suspended license and was arrested.

Queens

The medical examiner is investigating why an 8-year-old boy died after complaining of headaches, police said.

The Flushing boy had been brought to Booth Memorial Hospital on June 14 and then transferred to Cornell Medical Center, where he died Thursday afternoon, police said yesterday.

Police said an irate driver whose car was stuck behind a garbage truck got into an argument with a sanitation worker and punched him in the face.

The incident occurred at Beach 61st Street and Larkin Avenue in Rockaway around 4:30 yesterday morning as sanitation worker, David Pitts, 34, was making his rounds.

The driver, Charlie Thomas, was arrested at the scene and charged with assault, harassment and obstructing governmental administration.

Brooklyn

A 45-year-old man was found with cuts on his face inside a building at 907 Myrtle Ave. around 7:20 p.m. yesterday.

Police said he was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced DOA.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. Police are still investigating.

Cops busted a suspect yesterday in the June 14 shooting death of Lamont Randolph, 32, who was shot in the face and chest at Pulaski Street and Lewis Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Police identified the suspect as Donald Jones, 27, of 362 Sutter Ave.

He was charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

An 18-month-old boy who fell from a third-floor apartment window and died on Friday has been identified as Ishraquddin Mazumder of 445 Lincoln Ave. in East New York.

The boy’s mother told police she was feeding her son and looked away for a moment.

The accident occurred at 9:30 p.m., when the boy clambered up the window ledge and managed to squeeze through the gap between the guardrail and the window, and plunged three stories.

He was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he died 15 minutes later.

The body of William Garcia, 22, was discovered in the stairwell of his building at 633 Howard Ave. in Ocean Hill with a gunshot wound to the head.

Police said he was dead at the scene when they arrived at 2 a.m. yesterday. The investigation was continuing.

Bronx

A 28-year-old man was in critical condition yesterday after being shot several times in the chest at 450 E. 184th St. in University Heights around 11:50 p.m. Friday night.

The man was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital after he was found lying in a pool of blood.

A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder in Thursday night’s shooting death of Michael Fisher at East 138th Street and Brook Avenue, police said yesterday.

Police identified the suspect as Jason Roman of 705 E. 133rd St., but offered no motive for the shooting.
