Brooklyn–A thug terrorized a man wearing a yarmulke in Midwood in what police are calling a hate crime, authorities said yesterday.
Joseph Berlin, 42, confronted the 35-year-old victim on Nostrand Avenue near Avenue J at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, cops said.
Berlin allegedly snarled, “Repeat after me, all Jews must die,” then chased the victim into a car.
Berlin then kicked and damaged the rear driver’s-side door, sources said.
The victim managed to call 911 and Berlin was arrested on charges of aggravated harassment and criminal mischief, said a spokesman for DA Charles Hynes.

A fleet-footed motorist foiled a would-be carjacker outside a Canarsie diner, authorities said yesterday.
Nathan Butler, 18, allegedly approached the 56-year-old motorist sitting in a car outside the eatery at Foster and Ralph avenues at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday.
Butler simulated a gun in his jacket pocket and demanded the “f—ing keys!” cops said. The victim shouted “OK, OK,” then fled with the keys to a gas station across the street.
Butler sat in the victim’s car for several minutes, then jumped out and began chasing the returning motorist, police said.
The victim eluded the suspect’s grasp for several minutes until cops arrived, authorities said.
Police grabbed Butler on various charges, including grand larceny, said a DA spokesman.

A gun-toting thief robbed a West Village sex shop, police sources said yesterday.
The unidentified thief pointed a handgun at an employee by the register at Pleasure Chest on Seventh Avenue South near Charles Street at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
He ordered her to “put everything in my hand,” and she handed over $600.
A day earlier, a gun-wielding crook stuck up a frozen-yogurt shop at Bleecker and Grove streets.
It wasn’t immediately known if the robberies were connected.

A car smash led to a slash in Chelsea, authorities said yesterday.
Martin Saljanin, 28, and an accomplice clashed with the victim at 29th Street and 10th Avenue at 3:30 a.m. Sunday after the accomplice hit the victim’s car, cops said.
Saljanin allegedly pulled a sharp object and slashed the victim on the forehead and cheek,
Police arrested Saljanin on assault charges. The cohort fled.
It took ER docs 40 stitches to close the victim’s wounds.

Cops are looking for a would-be NYU robber.
The thief slipped inside the building at 14 University Place before 11 p.m. on Jan. 6 and damaged seven doors in a bid to rob offices.
Cleaning personnel discovered the damage and called police, who are investigating whether anything was taken.

A smarter thief would have worn gloves.
A fingerprint match led to the arrest of a man suspected of making off with computers and jewelry from an East Village apartment.
Miquel Santos, 49, slipped inside the apartment on East 10th Street near First Avenue at 10 a.m. on Dec. 31 and made off with eight pieces of jewelry and two laptops, cops said.
Police collected fingerprints from the door and matched them to the suspect’s on file.
Santos was busted Monday and charged with burglary.
Staten Island
Get your motor running . . . well, never mind.
A man tried to buy three motorbikes at a Charleston store with a stolen credit-card number belonging to someone he had chauffeured the week before, authorities said yesterday.
Vincent Amato, 20, attempted to buy the motorbikes, valued at $12,000, at Staten Island Power Sports on Arthur Kill Road near Sharrotts Road at 11:45 a.m. on Dec. 15, cops said.
An employee knew Amato from a previous purchase and alerted police that Amato was trying to use the unauthorized credit-card number of a former employer, sources said.
Amato fled but was nabbed Tuesday and charged with grand larceny, according to a spokesman for DA Daniel Donovan.

A purse snatcher was nabbed after he swiped a woman’s handbag in Mariners Harbor, cops said yesterday.
Calvin Harris, 50, approached the woman on Brabant Street and Lockman Avenue at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, wrested away her pocketbook and ran, cops said.
The victim called the police, who found Harris nearby.
He was charged with robbery, the DA’s spokesman said.
