The body of a man who was savagely beaten to death was found in the hallway of an Inwood apartment building.
A 911 caller told cops that a man in his 40s was unconscious inside 37 Payson Ave., across from Inwood Hill Park, around 4:35 a.m. Neighbors said the man was found in the hallway of the building.
The victim had broken ribs, bruises and cuts, authorities said. He was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A sticky-fingered thief was busted snatching sunglasses from a Midtown shop, authorities said.
Mark Ivey, 42, plucked seven pairs of shades from the shelves of the Solstice Sunglass Boutique on Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street at 6:50 p.m. on Oct. 21, shoved an employee out of his way and ran off, court documents allege.
He was tracked down and arrested Monday on robbery charges.

This Washington Heights crook is taking his problems with the law into his own hands.
Anthony Carrington, 44, who has 32 prior arrests, called up the Civilian Complaint Review Board at 4:45 p.m. Oct. 28 and snapped, “If any cops from the 34th Precinct stop me, I’m going to shoot him!”
Police didn’t just stop the lawbreaker — they charged him with making terroristic threats and aggravated harassment.

One woman decided to take a five-finger discount at an Upper East Side store.
Patricia Galloway, 54, allegedly strolled into an H&M on East 86th Street, near Lexington Avenue, around 8 p.m. Wednesday and was spotted snatching clothes off a rack and stuffing them into a brown bag.
The sticky-fingered thief was caught and charged with criminal possession of stolen property and burglary.

Cops are investigating the murder of a man who was beaten and abducted from one part of the Bronx and found dead in another section of the borough less than two hours later.
Witnesses told cops that several men beat a man and forced him into a car at 3908 Bronx Boulevard, near Woodhaven Cemetery, around 10:45 p.m. Thursday.
Police said the same man was found dead, with his hands tied behind his back, just after midnight at the corner of Ellison Avenue and Waterbury Street by St. Raymond’s Cemetery in Throggs Neck.

Cops have released photos of two men they believe robbed an armored- car driver delivering money to a check-cashing place in the South Bronx.
One suspect Maced the driver and tried to take a bag of money around 7:50 a.m. Thursday in front of David Check Cashing at 30-16 Third Ave.
The blinded victim shot at the suspects and hit a bus, but the robbers were able to get the gun away from the armored-car driver, took his money and ran.
Cops said one suspect is between 25 and 40 years old, standing about 5-foot-4 with a medium build, a low Caesar haircut and bad skin. He was last seen wearing a brown hoodie.
The second suspect is described between 40 and 49 years old, about 5-foot-8, with a slim build. He had black sunglasses, a black hoodie, a reflective orange construction vest and a tight black skull cap under a white construction helmet he left behind at the scene.
