If at first you don’t succeed, rob again.

That was the slogan adopted yesterday by a determined robber who targeted adjacent banks in Elmhurst, authorities said.

He first hit the HSBC branch at 87-03 Queens Blvd., near 55th Avenue, at 11:42 a.m. but scored zilch, cops said.

Still desperate for cash, he simply trotted next door to a Citibank, passed a demand note to a teller and fled with a haul estimated at between $8,000 and $10,000, cops added.

The crook is believed to be in his 40s, and was last seen wearing a gray tank top, jeans shorts and a black baseball cap.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was found at 4:27 a.m. on the ground on Steinway Street near 28th Avenue with his pants zipper undone, cops said.

It appears as though the man may have fallen from a window, cops added. Investigators are looking into whether he was a peeping Tom.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

He needs to learn some manners.

An enraged 62-year-old man used his cane to attack a guy 41 years his junior during an argument over who should have said “excuse me” in a Boerum Hill housing project, cops said yesterday.

Larry Peterkin was driving his motorized scooter into the elevator at the Wyckoff Houses on Third Avenue and Baltic Street at around 1:30 p.m. Monday when he nearly barreled into the 21-year-old victim, cops said.

The two started fighting over courtesy when Peterkin allegedly became so steamed that he jumped off his scooter and whacked the victim with his cane, cops added.

He also allegedly punched the victim in the face and bit his arm, causing minor injuries.

“I know we have a problem here. He should have said, ‘Excuse me.’ I don’t have to say excuse me,” Peterkin allegedly told arresting officers.

He was charged with assault, weapons possession and menacing.
