Cops are searching for two con artists who scammed a woman in Sunset Park, authorities said.
On July 30 at Fifth Avenue and 45th Street, the 65-year-old victim was approached at 12:15 p.m. by a woman claiming to be holding a winning lottery ticket, police sources said.
The scammer laid out a story, claiming to be an illegal alien who could not legally cash the ticket.
Her male accomplice then stepped up and “offered” money for the ticket, prompting the naive victim to make a counteroffer of $10,000 denominated in euros, sources added.
The scammers took the euros and fled after handing over the ticket, which the victim soon learned was worthless.
The woman scammer is in her 50s, 5-foot-2, and approximately 120 pounds, cops said. The man is in his 50s, 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds.
