Cops yesterday were asking for help in capturing this man (right), who they say beat and raped a woman in her Bronx apartment.
The violence began at around 9:30 a.m. on Dec 4, when the man forced his 39-year- old victim into her apartment in the Morris Heights section. He beat her unconscious and then raped her before fleeing. A family member found the woman lying on the floor and called 911.
The woman was taken to Lincoln Hospital.
The man was described as Hispanic, in his 30s, 5 foot 10, 185 to 200 pounds with reddish eyes and a thin mustache. Anyone with information should call CrimeStoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
A man who was shot and critically wounded Sunday in the Bedford Park section has died, police said yesterday.
Julio Couvertier, 27, was stepping out of a cab at East 198th Street and Grand Concourse at around 4:30 a.m., when an assailant brandishing a pistol approached him.
The gunman opened fire for reasons that remain unclear. He hit Couvertier once in the chest. Couvertier was taken to North Central Bronx Hospital, where he died Sunday night..

A 22-year-old man was able to walk to a hospital after being shot in the head at a Brownsville housing project, police said yesterday.
Laron Anderson was waiting at an elevator in the Brevoort Houses on Patchen Avenue at 8:15 p.m. Sunday when a ski- masked man approached him and pulled a gun.
The assailant demanded cash. Anderson resisted and raised his left hand to protect his face. The gunman fired a shot that traveled through Anderson’s hand and lodged in his forehead.
Anderson staggered to St. Mary’s Hospital five blocks away. He was listed in stable condition. The robber fled empty-handed.
A 25-year-old man was shot in the elbow on a Brownsville street, police said yesterday.
The man was wounded at the corner of New Lots Avenue and Mother Gaston Boulevard at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, when he heard gunfire, felt pain and realized he’d been shot.
He was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. It was not immediately clear if he was the intended target.

A drunk driver was arrested when his new Mercedes slammed into a pole at the Stapleton Houses, authorities said yesterday.
Cops were called to Tompkins Avenue at around 4 a.m. Saturday, and found Paul Naranjo next to his smashed-up 2003 Mercury, police said.
They noticed that Naranjo had watery eyes and slurred speech and smelled of alcohol, cops said.
After Naranjo, 40, failed a breath test, he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
A New Jersey man was also arrested on DWI charges after his car was stopped by police at the Verrazano Bridge, authorities said yesterday.
Kalpit Kakad, 31, had a flushed face and bloodshot eyes when cops stopped his 1999 Audi at the toll plaza at around 5 a.m. Sunday, police said.
Cops smelled alcohol on his breath and administered a breath test to Kakad, who allegedly failed it.
He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
A father and son pummeled a man, breaking his nose and giving him two black eyes, on an Arden Heights street, police said yesterday.
Gabriel Velez, 46, and his 22-year-old son, Gary, punched and kicked the man in the face on Ebey Lane at around 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 6, police said.
The victim suffered swelling and bruising and received stitches to his forehead.
Cops arrested the suspects Sunday on assault and harassment charges. Police did not disclose a motive for the alleged attack.
A group of men kicked and broke a Hanukah sign in an apparent bias incident outside a New Dorp residence, police said yesterday.
The band of three to four men fled after cracking the sign on the front lawn of the private home Sunday.
A 60-year-old man reported the vandalism.
