THE BRONX
*** A 23-year-old man was shot and killed after a 3:30 a.m. dispute in front of 522 Beach Ave., police said.
The gunman shot Mario Bello in the head with a .38-caliber revolver.
Bello, who lives on Beach Avenue not far from the shooting site, was declared dead at the scene.
Sources said a suspect was taken into custody and the gun was recovered. Charges were pending. A third person, either an accomplice or a witness, was being sought, the sources said.
It was unclear whether Bello and the shooter knew each other prior to their confrontation or what they were arguing about.
QUEENS
*** Cops arrested a man and confiscated more than 25,000 counterfeit movie DVDs and music CDs after raiding two basements in Jamaica and St. Albans, police said yesterday.
The first raid unfolded at 7:45 a.m. Friday when officers executed a search warrant in the basement of 92-17 Merrick Blvd., where they found approximately 4,600 DVDs and 5,300 CDs, police said.
At 2 p.m., cops executed a second warrant in the basement of 118-38 190th St., in St. Albans, where they scooped up an additional cache of counterfeit merchandise – approximately 7,400 DVDs and 8,900 CDs.
Malikie Sow, 33, who lives at the second address, was charged with trademark counterfeiting, police said. Police were investigating a bias incident involving graffiti found early yesterday inside the elevator of a Forest Hills apartment building.
*** Police were called shortly after the 4:30 a.m. discovery of graffiti scrawled inside the elevator of a building in the vicinity of 99th Street and 64th Road that contained anti-black slurs, sources said.
BROOKLYN
*** A 21-year-old man was shot dead on a Bedford-Stuyvesant street yesterday, cops said. Jonathan Madison was shot in the chest by an unknown gunman as he stood at Lexington and Throop avenues at 5 p.m., police said.
Madison, of Gates Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene.
*** A man shot in the shoulder in East Flatbush is recovering after he smashed his car into another vehicle while trying to escape his assailant, police said yesterday.
The violence erupted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at East 35th Street and Avenue D when a driver sitting behind the wheel of his car was suddenly shot in the shoulder.
The wounded man tried to drive away, but smashed his car not far from where he was shot. An ambulance rushed him to Kings County Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
*** Detectives were investigating why an 18-year-old was shot in a dispute in Williamsburg, police said yesterday.
At 10 p.m. Friday in front of 249 S. First St., the teen got into a disagreement with a 22-year-old man who shot the younger man in the hand. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
*** An 18-year-old was shot in Brownsville for reasons that remain under investigation, police said yesterday.
At approximately 10:50 p.m. Friday, the victim was standing in front of 309 MacDougal St. when a shot struck him in the right leg.
The victim was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital and was in stable condition, police said.
MANHATTAN
*** A man was stabbed in the abdomen early yesterday in Midtown after he got into a dispute with a group of men, police said.
The knife stabbing occurred just before 4 a.m. at West 35th Street and Fifth Avenue when the victim, 28, got into a confrontation with the men.
One of the men stabbed the victim, who was taken to Bellevue Hospital in serious condition.
STATEN ISLAND
*** Police were investigating the death of a 1-year-old boy who was found unconscious inside his Arlington home early yesterday. The child, whose name was not released, was found unconscious at 8:30 a.m. by a relative inside a home on Netherland Avenue and rushed to St. Vincent’s Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Sources said there was no immediate indication of criminality, but the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
