STATEN ISLAND
* A 23-year-old man was busted for shooting a man and woman on a Saint George street last night, cops said.
A police K-9 dog was slightly injured while searching for the gunman, a source at the scene said.
Gregory Edwards, of York Terrace, was nailed for shooting an unidentified man and woman on Richmond Terrace at 8 p.m., police said.
The man in his 30s was shot in the arm, while the woman in her 40s was shot in the leg. They were both taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in stable condition.
Edwards was later nabbed by Anti-Crime cops on Eaton Place and was charged with weapons possession and two counts of assault.
Meanwhile, a K-9 German Shepherd named Cage was sniffing around for Edwards after the shooting and followed a scent into some bushes. He was greeted by a feisty feline who took a swipe at him and cut his nose.
Cage was taken to a veterinarian hospital in Manhattan where he was treated for his wound. (lcf)
* A 17-year-old driver was arrested on drug charges yesterday after cops pulled him over in Grant City, authorities said yesterday.
Anthony San Giorgio was cruising at Third and Locus avenues around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when a police officer stopped him.
When the cop approached the car, he smelled marijuana coming from inside and found a quantity of pot in San Giorgio’s possession, police said.
He was charged with criminal possession of marijuana and failing to stop in response to an officer’s command.
* A 42-year-old man was arrested after he violated an order of protection by approaching his ex-girlfriend on a Ward Hill street, authorities said yesterday.
Alix Archer allegedly clashed with the woman at Frean Avenue and Targee Street around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Cops were called and apprehended Archer, who allegedly yelled, “You think this is over, bitch? You got me arrested!”
He was charged with harassment and criminal contempt.
* An apparently drunken teenager was charged with disorderly conduct yesterday after he punched and pushed his on-again-off-again girlfriend in Midland Beach, cops said.
Michael Keddy, 18, smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes at around 3 a.m. when he confronted the woman at Freeborn Street near Wahler Place, police said.
He peppered her with obscenities, threw her to the ground, yanked her ponytail and punched her, cops said.
Police were called to the scene and apprehended Keddy.
The victim was not seriously injured, and authorities said she was not cooperating with police.
* A New Dorp man was arrested yesterday after he cashed more than $20,000 in forged checks since 1999, authorities said yesterday.
Between April 1999 and June 2001, Richard Jackson, 45, cashed 25 forged checks made out to his mom, Veronica Jackson, at a Pathmark supermarket on Hylan Boulevard and Allison Avenue, cops said.
He was charged with forgery, grand larceny and falsifying business records.
THE BRONX
* A quintuple stabbing that left one man dead in Mott Haven was triggered when three Soundview assailants crashed a house party, cops said yesterday.
Ronnie Perez, 16, and two male accomplices tried to get into the party held in a second-floor apartment on East 145th Street around 1 a.m. Sunday.
When they were stopped at the door, the trio began arguing with Angel Mezza, 18, and four other revelers.
The dispute escalated into a fistfight that spilled out in back of the building.
The thugs then pulled out at least one knife, plunging it into Mezza’s chest and slashing his throat, cops said.
Mezza was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he died.
The other victims were also stabbed and taken to the same hospital with assorted injuries.
A 21-year-old man was stabbed in both hands; a 17-year-old was slashed on the right side of the face and stabbed in the torso; another 17-year- old was stabbed in the back; and a 23-year-old man was stabbed in the back.
Cops later arrested Perez and charged him with assault and weapons possession.
Police are looking for his two cohorts.
* A man was gunned down on an East Tremont street early this morning, cops said.
The unidentified man was shot in the neck by an unknown gunman on Bronx Park Avenue, near East 178 Street, just after midnight, police said.
The man was rushed to Jacobi Hospital and died shortly after arriving there.
It was unclear what sparked the deadly gunplay. (lcf)
MANHATTAN
* Two cops nabbed a pair of New Jersey teens on weapons charges after pulling them over for driving erratically in Hamilton Heights, authorities said yesterday.
The Manhattan North Borough Crime cops were driving in an unmarked car when they stopped the vehicle occupied by Quadel Brewer, 19, and Aston Sappe, 18, at West 144th Street and Broadway just after midnight on Monday.
As the cops approached the car, they saw the teens in possession of two semi-automatic guns – a 9mm and a Norinco – and arrested them.
BROOKLYN
* A 42-year-old woman was found dead yesterday, apparently shot and strangled in her Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment, police said.
Cops arrived at a fourth-floor apartment around noon after receiving a 911 call of a loud dispute.
When they entered, police found the body of Elaine Sealey lying face-up in her bed.
Police believe Sealey has two children, ages 3 and 4, who were present in the apartment.
