THE BRONX
* A Bronx cop has been arrested for beating and choking his girlfriend in their Unionport home, law-enforcement sources said yesterday.
Abraham Nuñez, assigned to the 40th Precinct in Mott Haven, grabbed the woman by the neck and began choking her in their Ellis Avenue residence at around 5 p.m. Wednesday, the sources said.
Nuñez, who was suspended from the force, then allegedly punched her in the arms and tossed her to the floor.
The victim suffered swelling to her neck and bruising to her arms. Nuñez was charged with assault and harassment.
* A young man and a teenager were shot while smoking marijuana in Morrisania, police said yesterday.
The two, 17 and 20, were standing behind a building on East 167th Street at around 11 p.m. Wednesday, when two gunmen approached and opened fire.
The teen was struck in his groin and was released after treatment at Lincoln Hospital. The man was hit several times in his torso and left leg. He was taken to the same hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
The shooters fled on foot.
* A traffic-enforcement agent was arrested on disorderly-conduct charges after he interceded in a police matter in Unionport, police said.
Antonio Serrano, 21, “got loud” with police who were issuing a summons to his friend for a traffic or parking violation at Castle Hill and Blackrock avenues at 1:25 a.m., cops said.
* An apparent skull fragment was found by workers yesterday in a vacant lot in Eastchester, authorities said.
The construction workers discovered the top part of the skull behind a building on Merritt Avenue.
BROOKLYN
* A 40-year-old man was gunned down on a Flatbush street yesterday, cops said.
The unnamed man was walking near East 25th Street and Cortelyou Road just before 6:30 p.m. when an unknown triggerman started firing.
The victim was hit once in the right calf, cops said.
He was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. (s, lcf)
* Two teenagers were arrested for beating and robbing a man on a Park Slope street, law-enforcement sources said yesterday.
The violence began at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, when Jesus Hernandez set his bike against a wall at Seventh Avenue near Second Street. Moments later, two 16-year-old boys approached, and one tried to grab the bike.
Hernandez held onto the bike as the other suspect pummeled his face.
Hernandez gave up his bike to one of the teens and struggled with the other. A police officer on patrol saw the commotion and arrested the suspects on assault, menacing and robbery charges.
Hernandez was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The suspects’ names were withheld because of their ages.
* An apparently drunken man beat his girlfriend and menaced her with a meat cleaver in Brownsville, law-enforcement sources said yesterday.
Labar Hunter, 31, was intoxicated and holding an open beer bottle as he screamed at Tonia Worrell, 37, in her Sutter Avenue apartment at around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, the sources said.
He then allegedly brandished the cleaver, threatened to cut Worrell’s throat and punched her in the face. During the ensuing struggle, Worrell pushed Hunter out of the apartment and locked the front door.
Hunter then tried to set the door on fire, the sources said.
Worrell called 911, and police placed Hunter under arrest. He was charged with menacing, criminal mischief and criminal possession of a weapon.
The victim suffered scratches to her chest, but did not need medical attention.
* A Sheepshead Bay man was arrested for beating his ex-girlfriend and threatening her and her child in two separate incidents, law-enforcement sources said yesterday.
Arthur Scott, 38, allegedly punched Robyne Algood in the arms and legs in their apartment on Avenue W near Batchelder Street at 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 14.
Five days later, Scott telephoned Algood at her grandmother’s house, where she was staying after the beating, sources said.
He allegedly told her that she better not return to their home with her son.
Police arrested Scott on Wednesday in Brownsville on an unrelated warrant, the details of which were not disclosed. He was charged with assault, menacing and aggravated harassment.
STATEN ISLAND (s, lcf)
* A 21-year-old man was arrested yesterday for shooting another man in the back last month, cops said.
Dane Finley, of Simmons Place, was busted yesterday for shooting his 20-year-old victim, whose name was withheld, on Park Hill Avenue on April 28, police said. It was unclear what sparked the gunplay.
The victim was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in stable condition.
Finley faces a range of charges, including attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
MANHATTAN
* A man made off with $1,690 from a lower Manhattan bank after he slipped a teller a note demanding money, police said yesterday.
The stickup took place at the Commerce branch on Hudson Street near Duane Street at around 1:30 p.m.
QUEENS (s, lcf)
*A Department of Sanitation employee was arrested in Woodside yesterday for beating up a colleague after they got into a heated argument over their routes, cops said.
Elijah Williams, 54, got into verbal spat with Felix Pichardo, 48, at a 58th Street sanitation hub that boiled over into fisticuffs at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, police said.
Pichardo suffered bruises on his head, leg and arm, cops said.
He was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital where he was treated and released.
The violence was reported to cops yesterday and Williams, of St. Albans, was arrested and charged with assault.
