THE BRONX
* Cops are asking for the public’s help in finding an apparent Yankee loving bank bandit who is batting 1.000 after successfully hitting four banks in Parkchester, Mott Haven, Crotona Park and Manhattan.
The gun-toting man first struck the Chase Bank at Hugh J. Grant Circle on March 1 and was able to walk out with $300 after handing a note to a teller, police sources said.
He then hit the Ponce De Leon Federal Bank on March 23 and stole $850 after handing over a note, the source said.
On April 12, the man cops are looking to put into a different kind of lineup robbed almost $2,100 from an HSBC bank on Westchester Avenue, sources said.
He then took another swing at an HSBC on the Upper East Side last Saturday, where he walked out with $1,800, after he handed over a threatening note written on an envelope and tapped on the window with his gun, according to the source.
The bandit is described as being a Hispanic man in his 20s, standing 5-foot-5 and weighing about 140 pounds. He was wearing a Yankee hat, a white shirt with the letter “P” on the front and blue jeans. (lcf)
* A 23-year-old man was gunned down on a Mount Hope street yesterday, cops said.
The man – whose name was withheld – was in front of a Morris Avenue building when an unknown gunman shot him once in the back just before 5 p.m., police said.
The victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition. (lcf)
* An argument between two Morrisania roommates yesterday ended with one fatally stabbed and the other under arrest, police said.
Samuel Wood clashed with his 50-year-old roommate while they were using drugs in their East 168th Street apartment around 1:30 a.m., cops said.
The dispute escalated and Salley grabbed a knife and stabbed the man twice in the chest, cops said.
The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he died.
MANHATTAN
* A 27-year-old man was arrested for assaulting his ex-girlfriend in her East Harlem apartment, law-enforcement sources said yesterday.
Around 10 p.m. Tuesday, Kevin Malave used a key to enter the Lexington Avenue apartment he once shared with the woman, who now has an order of protection against him. He shouted at her and she repeatedly pleaded with him to leave, the sources said.
Malave refused and grabbed a fork, hitting her in the face and cutting her on the forehead, according to the sources. He then picked up a wooden chair and bashed her in the head in front of her four children, all under the age of 14, the sources said. He fled with $100 from her purse.
Police were called and, with the help of one of the victim’s children, spotted Malave at 121st Street and Lexington Avenue.
After a brief foot chase, four uniformed cops grabbed Malave and charged him with assault, burglary, weapons possession and violating an order of protection.
* A Harlem woman was arrested yesterday in the fatal stabbing of an acquaintance, police said.
Michelle Salley, 37, stabbed the 38-year-old man in the chest in a shelter on Lenox Avenue at 1 a.m., cops said.
The man, whose name was withheld, was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he died.
BROOKLYN
* A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting in East New York, police said.
Kevin Sykes and a male accomplice were driving in a white van when they stopped near a group hanging out at Schenck Avenue and Linden Boulevard at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, sources said. One of the men in the van fired five shots out the rear passenger-side window at the group, hitting a 16-year-old girl in the shoulder, the sources said. The victim was treated at Brookdale Hospital.
Sykes was charged on Tuesday after he was arrested in an unrelated burglary. He was charged with assault, reckless endangerment and weapons possession.
* A 35-year-old man was shot as he hung out on a New Lots street yesterday, cops said.
The unidentified man was standing in front of a New Lots Avenue building when a single shot rang out at 3:50 p.m., leaving him shot in the groin, police said.
He was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
Cops believe the man shot himself as he put the gun into his pants, a police source said. (lcf)
* A 16-year-old boy was arrested on charges of clubbing another teen on a Canarsie street, law-enforcement sources said yesterday.
The suspect, whose name was withheld due to his age, was brandishing a pipe when he stepped up to Lance Coltherst, 17, at Rockaway Parkway and Flatbush Avenue on Tuesday night, sources said. The thug bashed Coltherst several times in the head, causing lacerations and hemorrhaging, the sources say.
Coltherst managed to call 911 to summon cops, who arrested the suspect nearby. He was charged with assault, menacing and harassment. Coltherst was taken to Kings County Hospital.
* A good Samaritan assisted police in arresting a man who robbed and assaulted a woman in Flatbush, law-enforcement sources said yesterday.
The incident began about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, when Roi Wood, 39, sneaked up to Rosemary Lewis and apparently used a boxcutter to cut the straps of her purse hanging from her shoulder on Lott Street, the sources said.
Lewis yelled for help and chased Wood. A witness, Philip Fitzroy, joined the pursuit and tackled Wood. Fitzroy then took the boxcutter away from Wood and held him for police.
Wood was charged with assault, petit larceny, grand larceny, robbery and harassment.
