BROOKLYN
* Police yesterday released this photo (above) of an alleged gunman they say shot a man on a Brownsville street in August.
The suspect, Chan Hill, shot the 28-year-old in the leg as he was walking on Dumont Avenue near Osborn Street at 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 20, police said.
The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening. Hill, whose motive was not known, fled. He is a 21-year-old black man, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information in the case. (s, lcf)
* A Prospect Heights man was arrested for raping his niece, authorities said yesterday.
Charles Smith, 55, was watching the 32-year-old woman as she slept in her bedroom in their Lefferts Place apartment at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, sources said.
Moments later, the victim awoke to find Smith on top of her and tried to throw him off, but he restrained her. He then allegedly raped her, sources said.
The victim escaped and told her brother, who contacted police. Smith was arrested on charges of rape and sexual abuse.
* A Brownsville resident was charged with assault after he attacked his girlfriend with a vase, police sources said yesterday.
At 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, Miguel Suarez, 59, clashed with his 51-year-old girlfriend in their Sackman Avenue apartment over the frequent visits of her friends, sources said.
The dispute escalated into violence when Suarez allegedly picked up a vase and used it to smash the woman in the head.
Suarez was arrested on assault and menacing charges.
* A subway operator was arrested for choking and menacing his wife, authorities said yesterday.
Police sources said Jerome Willis, 35, argued with his 30-year-old wife at an undisclosed Brooklyn location at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
During the dispute, Willis allegedly jumped on the victim and began choking her until she felt faint.
Then, on Tuesday night, Willis telephoned the woman at her job at the Marriott hotel on Adams Street.
During the conversation, he allegedly got angry and told his wife he was coming to the hotel.
When he arrived hotel security grabbed Willis and held him until police arrived. He was charged with assault, menacing and harassment.
THE BRONX (s, lcf)
* Cops are asking for the public’s help in finding this gun-toting bandit (above) who robbed a Parkchester bank.
The man walked up to a teller in the Washington Mutual Bank on East Tremont Avenue on Aug. 8, pulled out a black handgun and handed a teller a note demanding cash, police said.
The man walked out of the bank after snatching about $1,500, police sources said.
He is described as a white man in his 30s, about 5-foot-6, between 200 and 230 pounds. He has dark hair, a goatee and dark-rimmed eyeglasses.
He was last seen wearing a baseball hat, a sport shirt and was carrying a black nylon messenger-style bag.
MANHATTAN
* An NYPD civilian employee was arrested yesterday after police caught him illegally selling jewelry on a Midtown street, cops said.
Andrew Taylor, a police administrative assistant, was spotted by cops selling the baubles without a vending license at 1:15 a.m. on 43rd Street near Seventh Avenue, police said.
After a brief foot chase, police arrested Taylor, 27, and charged him with unlicensed vending and resisting arrest. He was suspended without pay.
STATEN ISLAND
* A man was arrested yesterday for slashing and threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend in a Fox Hills apartment building, authorities said yesterday.
Louis Siders, 41, brandished a knife when he confronted his victim at about 2:30 a.m. in the Osgood Avenue building, court records show.
Siders allegedly threatened to kill the woman, pushed her, smacked her face and slashed her arm with the knife.
After police were called, Siders was charged with assault, menacing and harassment.
* A teenager was arrested on drug charges yesterday after he attacked a police officer in Port Richmond, authorities said.
Dwayne Lamont, 19, allegedly charged at the cop at Castleton Avenue near Treadwell Avenue at about 2 a.m.
The suspect barreled into him, then allegedly flailed and swung his arms at the cop, who suffered a sprained left pinky, according to court records.
As Lamont was being restrained, he cursed at the officer, who allegedly found marijuana in the teen’s pants pocket.
Lamont was charged with assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and marijuana possession.
* A Rossville teen was arrested after a consensual sexual encounter with a 13-year-old acquaintance in his car, authorities said yesterday.
Law-enforcement sources said Justin Woods, 18, drove up to the girl as she was walking at 5 p.m. Monday near the Woodbrooke Condominium complex where they both live.
After a brief conversation, the girl got into the car and Woods drove to Correll Avenue and Gervil Street, where they parked.
The underage girl engaged in oral sex with the suspect, sources said.
The subsequent sequence leading up to Woods’ arrest was not revealed, but he was charged with sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child.
