QUEENS
* A bank robber (above) threatened to blow up an Astoria bank, and then commandeered a livery cab at knifepoint before smashing the taxi into a store and escaping on foot.
The robber vaulted the counter at the Independence Community branch at 37-10 Broadway around 9:30 a.m. and told the teller, “Give me the f-ing money, I have a bomb!”
He grabbed a wad of cash and ran out, leaving his bag with the fake bomb behind.
Then he stole the livery car at knifepoint and crashed it six blocks away.
The hapless bomb hoaxer was described as a white man in his 30s, standing 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9, weighing 170. He was wearing a Yankees baseball cap and a matching blue shirt, dark pants and red socks.
* Police are investigating a bias incident in which anti-Indian slurs were spray-painted yesterday on a Glen Oaks house.
The graffiti was discovered at 8 a.m. on the house at 261st Street near Bridgewater Avenue. (m, s)
BROOKLYN
* Two students were arrested for robbing a classmate at gunpoint in East Flatbush, authorities said yesterday.
Sources said Cordell Parris, 16, and his 15-year-old accomplice confronted their 15-year-old victim at East 57th Street and Flatlands Avenue at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 1.
The suspects allegedly demanded the victim’s CD player, but were rebuffed.
The 15-year-old thief then pulled up his shirt to reveal the handle of an apparent handgun.
Parris then allegedly took the victim’s CD player and headphones before fleeing with his accomplice.
The victim, who attends IS 78 in Bergen Beach with both suspects, reported the robbery at the 63rd Precinct station house on Oct. 6.
Police arrested the suspects on Wednesday on charges of robbery, menacing and grand larceny.
* An East New York woman was charged with assault after she slashed her boyfriend with a knife, authorities said yesterday.
Police sources said Willette Kinsey, 34, clashed with her 37-year-old boyfriend at Louisiana Avenue near Linden Boulevard after he told a neighbor about Kinsey’s medical problem. It was not immediately clear what the “problem” involved.
Kinsey allegedly pulled a knife, lunged at her boyfriend and slashed him across the stomach.
After the victim called 911, police arrested Kinsey on charges of assault, menacing, harassment and weapons possession.
The wounded man underwent minor surgery at Brookdale Hospital.
* A Bay Ridge resident has been arrested for groping a woman in a store, police sources said yesterday.
The incident began at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, when the 21-year-old victim reached for some newspapers in a stationery store on 4th Avenue while Ryan Burgos, 32, was picking out cigars next to her.
Suddenly, the victim felt someone squeeze her buttocks and turned around to find Burgos – wearing sunglasses with a cigar in his mouth – smiling at her, sources said.
The victim left the store and reported the incident to an officer across the street.
The cop arrested Burgos after a surveillance tape in the store confirmed that Burgos had grabbed the woman. He was charged with sexual abuse and forcible touching.
STATEN ISLAND
* A 42-year-old woman was charged with reckless endangerment yesterday after she opened fire on a crowded street in Midland Beach, authorities said.
At 2:10 a.m., Jayne Olivari pointed a revolver out the window of her home on Lincoln Avenue and opened fire while pedestrians were walking by, police sources said. No one was hit.
She was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and weapons possession. It was not immediately clear why she began firing.
* A man was arrested for mugging another man on a Livingston street in August, authorities said yesterday.
Brandishing some type of object, James Ballard, 36, approached his victim at the corner of Bement Avenue and Richmond Terrace at 4:40 p.m. on Aug. 19, a criminal complaint says.
Ballard then allegedly took the man’s wallet and fled. Police tracked Ballard down on Wednesday, and he was charged with robbery.
* Two men stole another man’s bag at knifepoint after roughing him up on a St. George street, authorities said yesterday.
Police sources said Jimmy Crawford, 19, and Aaron Hodges, 21, confronted their victim who was carrying a bag on Daniel Low Terrace near Fort Place at 9:44 p.m. Wednesday. The pair allegedly grabbed the man by the arm and threw him to the ground.
After Hodges pulled a knife, he stole the victim’s bag containing a wallet and other items before fleeing with Crawford, sources said. The victim was not seriously injured.
Police arrested the two suspects on Wednesday on charges of robbery and weapons possession.
MANHATTAN
* An East Harlem man was killed yesterday when a car hit him in lower Manhattan, police said.
Ernesto Torres, a 48-year-old overnight maintenance worker in the area, was crossing the street to buy a cup of coffee at 3:12 a.m. when he was struck by the vehicle at Church and Duane streets, police and Torres’ babysitter said.
Torres, of East 108th Street, was taken to New York Downtown Hospital, where he died a short time later. Police said there was no criminality involved.
* A West Village grandmother was robbed in her apartment during a home invasion as her grandson slept in a bedroom, police sources said yesterday.
The robber claimed to be a neighbor who forgot his keys and the 76-year-old woman buzzed him into her West 13th Street building Wednesday afternoon, sources said.
He covered the woman’s face with a jacket, forced his way into her apartment and stole some cash, the sources said.
The bandit demanded her jewelry and she pointed him towards a bedroom where he found the woman’s grandson sleeping. The robber feld.
He is described as a 25-year-old black or Hispanic man standing about 5-foot-10 and was last seen wearing an orange baseball hat and a blue jacket. (lcf)
