*** Cops are asking for the public’s help in finding this gun-toting man (photo above) who robbed a Jamaica cell phone store earlier this week.
The unidentified man walked into the Serena Wireless Store on Farmers Boulevard on Tuesday and pulled out a black handgun, police said.
A store surveillance camera caught the bandit as he ran out with an undetermined amount of cell phones and equipment.
He is described as being between 35 and 40-years-old, standing between 5-feet-10 and 6-feet-1 and weighing between 160 and 185 pounds.
The man has a goatee and was last seen wearing a black bubble jacket, blue jeans, tan boots and a gray ski hat.
*** A man who was arrested for dragging a cop 30 feet in a stolen car in Forest Hills has been hit with a new charge of criminal impersonation after it was determined that he claimed to be someone else, police said yesterday.
Christopher Saluto, 27, was pulled over at the corner of Metropolitan Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard for talking on his cellphone without a hands-free device just before 6 p.m. Thursday, cops said.
When it was determined that he was driving a 1991 Mustang that had been reported stolen in Nassau County, officers approached the car from opposite sides and ordered Saluto to get out.
Saluto instead grabbed one officer’s arms and started speeding off, dragging the cop as his partner hung on to the car’s passenger side for about 30 feet, police said.
He drove about another half-block before making a run for it, but was quickly brought down by the two cops chasing him. The officers were taken to New York Hospital of Queens and treated for minor injuries.
Saluto originally gave cops the name Michael Ferraro and gave an address in Massapequa Park, in Nassau County. He was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of stolen property, vehicular assault and operating a vehicle while using a cellphone.
Cops later learned his true identity and determined the address he gave was a former residence, prompting the additional charge of criminal impersonation.
