THE BRONX
* An armed thief robbed a livery cab driver yesterday in Wakefield, and cops are probing whether he committed a similar crime days before. The latest robbery occurred about 2 a.m. yesterday on the corner of Murdock and Nereid avenues when the thug, a man in his 30s, pulled a gun and stole cash from the 42-year-old driver and fled. The earlier robbery took place around 1 a.m. Monday at the corner of Teller Avenue and East 165th Street. In that case, the thief pulled a knife, demanded money from a livery driver and slashed him on both hands during a struggle. He fled with an undetermined amount of cash. His picture was captured by the taxi’s on-board camera.
* A woman was arrested yesterday for violating an order of protection brought by another woman in Longwood, a police source said. It was not immediately clear why or when the order was brought, but the source said that on Monday, in an apartment on Dawson Street, Margarita Martinez, 34, got into a dispute with a 30-year-old woman and threatened her. Martinez was charged with criminal contempt.
* An city correction officer has been arrested on aggravated-harassment charges, police said yesterday. On Tuesday, Panathy Hill, assigned to Bellevue Hospital, turned herself in to the 43rd Precinct at around 1 p.m., cops said. A Correction Department spokesman said the incident involved a phone threat and a neighborhood dispute.
BROOKLYN
* A young man was arrested yesterday for allegedly firing a gun into the air in Brownsville on New Years Day. Jimmy Robinson, 20, was nabbed after an officer investigating an unrelated criminal-trespass complaint recognized him as one of four shooters who were firing their weapons on Thatford Avenue in Brownsville. No one was injured.
MANHATTAN
* Two men have been arrested for impersonating cops and robbing three women in separate incidents in Midtown, police said yesterday. Robert Herman, 31, of Middletown, N.J., and Carlos Rosario, 35, of Manhattan, were nabbed Tuesday at around 6:30 p.m. and charged with robbery and criminal impersonation.
* An unidentified 20-year-old man was shot dead on a Brooklyn street last night, police said. The victim died in front of 410 St. Marks Ave in Prospect Heights at 10 p.m. Police early this morning had no motive or suspects in the killing. (lcf replate)
* Falling ice from the Empire State and Chrysler buildings closed down midtown streets yesterday to pedestrians and motorists for several hours before they were re-opened late in the afternoon. No one was injured.
* A thief walked into a Murray Hill bank, slipped a teller a note demanding money and fled in a yellow cab with $10,000, police said yesterday. The robbery occurred Tuesday at the Chase branch on Third Avenue near 32nd Street at around 11:30 a.m.
QUEENS
* The body of a man who had been shot in the head has been found in a Richmond Hill building, police said yesterday. On Tuesday, the body of Anthony Minichiello, 52, was discovered inside an apartment on 115th Street near 103rd Avenue at 3:30 p.m. It was not immediately clear if the death was an accident, suicide or homicide.
* An NYPD sergeant has been arrested for allegedly making a harassing phone call to a woman with whom he is acquainted, authorities said yesterday. Sgt. Walter Frey, assigned to the 109th Precinct in Queens, allegedly made the call to the woman early in the morning on Dec. 10. Frey was charged with aggravated harassment.
