An NYPD lieutenant was busted on charges of sexual battery in California after getting into a fight at a catering hall with a man who was angry over the allegations, according to a report Wednesday.
Lt. Jonathan Simons, a 35-year-old Brooklyn resident, was arrested at 12:35 a.m. Sunday and released on bail 10 hours later, Los Angeles County sheriff’s records showed.
The fracas happened at a popular wedding hall, The Grand Long Beach, the Long Beach Press-Telegram reported.
“During the investigation, officers learned that another male guest and Simons had gotten into a physical altercation when the guest learned of the woman’s allegations,” police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt told the paper.
Simons, who has been on the job for 13 years, was suspended without pay, the NYPD said early Thursday.
