An NYPD cop was charged with assault Tuesday over allegations that he punched someone in the face, officials said.

The 39-year-old officer, Brandon Tom, was given a desk appearance ticket Tuesday morning after an internal investigation into the incident, according to the NYPD.

The details of the encounter, including when and where it occurred, were not released.

The Manhattan District attorney said the officer was due in court in October, although the specific date was not known.
