A New York City police officer who survived a stab wound to the brain last year has been promoted to detective.
Eder Loor walked slowly up to the stage to receive his citation Friday. The auditorium full of police officers and family members gave him a standing ovation.
Loor was hurt while responding to a call of an emotionally disturbed person.
Prosecutors say that as officers followed the man down the street, he plunged a knife into Loor’s head.
The blade fractured his skull and before hitting his brain.
