Authorities took down a dog-fighting ring Thursday as part of a large-scale animal cruelty case that stretched from Manhattan out to Long Island, police said.
Twenty-eight dogs were rescued from cages during Thursday morning raids of at least two locations, according to the NYPD.
NYPD Chief Dermot Shea tweeted out a photo Thursday afternoon showing the cages of the poor pooches, which appear to be pit bulls.
Police sources told The Post the city cops had one person in custody after a 6 a.m. bust in Washington Heights at West 162nd Street and Broadway. Charges against that person are pending.
Another person was collared out in Uniondale, Long Island — and additional arrests are expected, sources said.
Authorities didn’t disclose many details on the bust Thursday but said it was a joint operation with the NYPD, Nassau County Police, ASPCA and Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
