The NYPD released a video that shows the fatal shooting of a man who was menacing people in Crown Heights with an object that appeared to be a gun.

The video, taken from a surveillance camera across the street, shows people scatter as officers quickly exit their vehicle and opened fire on Saheed Vassell.

The officers, from a distance, can be seen approaching the suspect with guns drawn. Four officers then opened fire, hitting Vassell seven to nine times.

The object turned out to be a soldering torch the suspect was brandishing as a firearm.

The NYPD has released various videos and 911 calls to bolster the claim that Vassell appeared armed and dangerous at the time of the shooting.

The state Attorney General’s Office is investigating the incident.
