A sea of mourners gathered outside the 102nd Precinct station house in Queens Sunday to remember fallen Det. Brian Simonsen, who was killed in a hail of friendly fire while responding to a robbery last week.

“He meant a lot to me. He was like another dad to me,” said Nicole Perez, 14, whose father Det. Nicholas Perez worked with Simonsen. “It’s been really hard. I don’t know how we’re going to get by this, but we’ll find a way.”

Even the burliest cops could be seen wiping away tears during the ceremony, and Nicole’s own father broke down and began crying after Nicole and his 11-year-old daughter Kagyla sang a rendition of “Wind Beneath My Wings.”

“Brian’s spirit is alive with us here today,” said Deputy Inspector Courtney Nilan, the commanding officer of the 102nd Precinct.

Purple and black bunting hung somberly over the station house front door, and inside, dozens of floral arrangements donated by local police boosters and schools gave the command a funerary air.

Local activist Sam Esposito organized the Sunday vigil “to give the precinct their props and let them know ‘We’re with you,’” he told The Post.
