Police are searching for the driver of a white SUV they say fired shots at a pedestrian from behind the wheel.

The victim, 23, was walking in front of 1810 East 2nd Street in Gravesend around 12 a.m. Thursday, when a stranger pulled up and opened fire, before speeding off, cops said.

The victim was shot in the back, and taken to Maimonides Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Cops initially took a 23-year-old into custody in connection with the incident, but he was let go, police said Saturday as they released surveillance footage of the SUV.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers, at 1-800-577-TIPS.
