It’s too hot for crime — at least, that’s what the NYPD is hoping for.

“Sunday has been canceled. Stay indoors, nothing to see here. Really, we got this,” the department tweeted out Sunday.

The NYPD seems to have taken a cue from their colleagues in New England, who asked residents to hold off on criminal activity until Monday in a viral Facebook post.

“And if you see our officers working out there today in the heat wave, a smile and a Thank You will go a long way (but maybe no hugs.),” the tweet read.
