Top cop Bill Bratton said Monday that he will roll out a plan to deal with the increase in stabbings and slashing across the city.
The commissioner said during a press conference that on Tuesday, the NYPD will identify problem areas that need to be targeted and will devote more resources to fighting the problem.
Bratton said that although murders and shootings have decreased this year, stabbings have increased 20 percent.
“We have been focusing a lot of attention and energy on this issue,” Bratton said. “Tomorrow, we will talk about the additional directions in dealing with that problem.”
