BUFFALO — A $17 sparkling wine produced by Swedish Hill Winery in the Finger Lakes region yesterday captured New York’s most coveted wine trophy — the Governor’s Cup silver chalice.
The medium-dry, non-vintage Riesling Cuvee, from the 24-year-old winery near Cayuga Lake’s western shore, beat out a record 850 wine entries in the annual contest showcasing the state’s top reds, whites and bubbly.
