EASTON, Conn. — This year’s Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is a 76-foot Norway spruce from Connecticut.
Crews chopped down the 10-ton tree this morning at the Easton home of schoolteacher Maria Corti.
“I think it’s a beautiful tree,” said Corti, who called Rockefeller Center reps about her perfect tree.
The spruce will then be hoisted by a crane onto a trailer and transported about 50 miles to Manhattan.
The tree, believed to be about 70 years old, will be erected at Rockefeller Center on Thursday and will be adorned with lights at next month’s official lighting.
After Christmas, the tree will be donated to Habitat For Humanity to use as wood for a home in Connecticut.
