Brooklyn Councilman Brad Lander will be honored by President Obama at a White House ceremony today.

Lander, who was elected to the council in 2009, will be named a Champion of Change.

He is being honored for making the public a part of the budget process.

The Democrat allows his constituents to decide how millions of dollars in discretionary funds are spent.
