An off-duty female police officer committed suicide in the Bronx, police sources said.

The woman used her off-duty weapon to shoot herself in the head around 3:30 p.m. Saturday while in the 45th Precinct, which encompasses Throgs Neck, Schuylerville and Pelham Bay.

She was pronounced dead a short time later, sources said. It was not immediately clear what circumstances preceded her suicide.
