An off-duty New Jersey cop who was in Manhattan Sunday sprang to the aid of a woman being attacked in Hell’s Kitchen by a homeless man who had just been released from a mental institution, a law enforcement source said.

The Camden County officer, identified by sources as Ryan Dubiel, spotted 38-year-old Kwabena Nantwi charge at the woman at the corner of West 55th Street and 10th Avenue shortly before 3:20 p.m., police said.

Dubiel broke up the assault and subdued the alleged assailant until NYPD cops arrived.

The 29-year-old woman suffered some cuts to her hand, but was not seriously injured.

Nantwi was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center for a psychiatric exam and was charged with assault.

He had been released from a separate facility earlier Sunday, sources said.

The New Jersey cop has put himself in harm’s way before.

Back in January, the officer apprehended a fugitive with a loaded weapon after hearing shots in a Camden alleyway.
