An off-duty NYPD housing cop was shot in the foot after attending a memorial service at a West Harlem public housing complex on Saturday afternoon, police said.  

The officer — the seventh member of the NYPD to be shot in 2022 — was struck as he walked out of the community center of the Manhattanville Houses in West Harlem at about 4:30 p.m., according to NYPD Chief of Housing Jeffrey Maddrey.

Maddrey said at a press briefing that the officer does not appear to be the intended target. The officer witnessed two suspects firing rounds outside the building and dove for cover.

The cop didn’t realize he had been struck by at least one of the bullets until he was assisting responding on-duty officers in their search for the two gunmen, according to Maddrey.

Two hours earlier, an argument broke out in the lobby of the community center — and investigators believe the shooting may be linked to that dispute.

Maddrey said the officer was not involved in that feud and was simply paying his respects for a “very revered” and “highly respected” community member who had passed away.

The officer was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital and is expected to fully recover, authorities said.

The two gunmen remained at large hours later.

Saturday’s shooting comes after another off-duty cop was shot during an attempted carjacking in Queens on Tuesday.

“This is our seventh police officer shot this year,” Maddrey said at the press conference.

“Our gun violence has been increasing. We have to stop the scourge of gun violence. We shouldn’t have to live like this. We’re not supposed to live like this,” he said.
