NEWARK, N.J. — Officials say an off-duty corrections officer is among the three people killed in separate shootings early Tuesday morning in Newark.
Thirty-seven-year-old Katrina Owens was at a barbecue when a fight began around 12:30 a.m.
Owens was a mother of three from Monmouth Junction who had worked for the state corrections department since 2003.
She was most recently a guard at New Jersey State Prison in Trenton.
There were reportedly two unrelated shootings happened over the next half-hour that left two people dead.
