The names of 10 New York City police officers who died from illnesses possibly related to the Sept. 11 attacks have been added to a memorial wall blocks from ground zero.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and police Commissioner Raymond Kelly announced the names Tuesday at a ceremony in lower Manhattan.

Last year, eight names were added to the memorial of officers who died from illnesses possibly related to ground zero recovery work.

The names added Tuesday were: Detective Sandra Adrian; Officer Madeline Carlo; Capt. Edward Gilpin; Sgt. Claire Hanrahan; Officer Robert Helmke; Detective William Holfester; Officer Patrice Ott; Detective Roberto Rivera; Sgt. Michael Ryan; and Sgt. Edward Thompson.

Kelly said 23 officers were killed on Sept. 11.
