Life expectancies are growing so much for Big Apple retirees that it’s about to start hurting the city’s bottom line.
Fiscal monitors say pension payments will need to be increased by roughly $600 million a year to keep up with shifting mortality rates. They said the boost stems from periodic adjustments of the methodology for calculating life expectancy.
