EAST FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — A single-engine plane flown by a pilot making a practice landing has crashed in Long Island, killing one person and injuring three others.

The crash happened at 9 a.m. at Republic Airport in East Farmingdale.

A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration says the pilot of the Marchetti four-seater was practicing landing the plane by making repeated approaches.

FAA spokesman Jim Peters said that of the four people on the plane, one was killed and three suffered serious injuries.

No information about their identities was immediately available.
