One person is dead and two others injured in an accident at a Manhattan construction site Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Emergency personnel responded to a call for a construction worker who fell down an elevator shaft at about 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of W. 30th Street and Broadway in Midtown, fire officials said.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene and two others suffered minor injuries, the FDNY said.
The injured victims were being treated at the scene.
The Department of Buildings is conducting an investigation into the accident, a spokesperson said.
