The rent hearing is too damn far!
The city is getting ready to jack up the cost of living in rent-regulated apartments throughout the five boroughs, but plans to hold only one public hearing — in Manhattan.
Of the city’s 1,025,214 rent-regulated apartments, 741,125 are in Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens and Staten Island.
The single Rent Guidelines Board hearing on the issue is scheduled for June 13 at 10 a.m. — a time when most people are working.
“The board abandoned even the pretense of democracy,” said Public Advocate and mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio.
The board did not return requests for comment yesterday.
