Hailing a cab outside Manhattan could soon be a lot easier.

Mayor Bloomberg has teamed up with the state Legislature to push a plan for ramped-up taxi service outside Manhattan.

The state Assembly and Senate have introduced a bill to let livery drivers pick up street hails in the outer boroughs, a right now exclusive to yellow cabs.

The bill could be voted on before the Legislature recesses for the summer this week. If passed, the new law would not take effect until July 1, 2012.

The mayor and the City Council have been negotiating with the taxi and livery industries over how to expand into underserved areas.
