A good Samaritan attempting to return a lost cellphone to its owner in Manhattan wound up being viciously beaten for his kind act, police said.
The 34-year-old victim found the phone near Columbus Circle at 4 a.m. Sept. 21, cops said. The owner then called and arranged for them to meet in order to return the device, authorities said.
But when they met, owner Floyd Robinson, 30, accused the victim of stealing the phone and punched him multiple times in the face and elbow, police said.
Robinson was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor assault, court documents say.
