A man known around Escondido for covering his home with Trump flags and MAGA memorabilia is understood to be fighting for his life after a brutal attack erupted outside his infamous “Trump House” on Wednesday.

Locals have complained about the Buchanan Street property in the past with commentary online going back years — describing bizarre displays, confrontational behavior and over-the-top MAGA decor — all long before the alleged attack left the home’s owner in a serious condition in hospital.

Police arrested Thomas Caleb Butler, 32, in connection with the attack on the corner of East Mission Avenue and Buchanan Street in Escondido around 2:15 p.m.

Video obtained by The California Post shows the aftermath of a confrontation outside the property, with police tape blocking off the street.

Officers reportedly arrived to find a man restraining the alleged attacker while the victim lay nearby with severe injuries.

A witness who attempted to stop the confrontation was also injured.

Comments online indicate the home had become a target of hostility in the neighborhood.

“My buddy lived down the street from him. Whenever I went to visit I made sure to swing by that place and shout stuff at them,” a post read.

Blood was seen dripping from a nearby curb when officers were on the scene talking with witnesses.

The victim was rushed to a trauma center.

Butler was reportedly arrested near the scene as investigators cordoned off the property and launched an investigation into what happened.

The California Post has contacted the Escondido Police Department and the Escondido Fire Department for comment.
