OWS aims to shut city
The city’s major banks and the NYPD are bracing for May Day protests — including picket lines, marches down Manhattan and civil disobedience — in a bid by Occupy Wall Street to shut down the city.
Organizers claim support from several major unions for a series of protests under a theme of “no work, no school, no shopping, no banking.”
The centerpiece is a rally Tuesday at Bryant Park, followed by a rally in Union Square and a march to Foley Square.
