Commuters thinking they could escape the latest Port Authority toll hike by busing in to work had better think again.

Several private lines that travel from New Jersey to New York City every day have already jacked up fares in response.

DeCamp, a commuter bus line popular with North Jersey residents, just raised its fares by 15 cents each way. Regulars said it put up a sign blaming the toll hikes that took effect on Sept. 18.

“Everything goes up but your paycheck,” groused Todd Peterson, 53, a stagehand who takes DeCamp from Caldwell.

“It adds up,” added a regular named Steve. “I don’t know how people, families do it. I really don’t.”

Greyhound’s New York-to-Atlantic City fares rose $2. An employee pointed to the toll increases.

And commuters not being hit with fare hikes fear that they soon will be.

“People are talking about it,” said Diane Leo, 31, who takes a Red & Tan bus from Bayonne to Manhattan.

“Its not fair at all.”
